From moisturising lip gloss to overnight pedicures, give your beauty cupboard a makeover with summer beauty essentials for every zone and every mama.
I’ve pulled together an edit of beauty products I swear by and other’s you do too, to check everything off your beauty list. It’s about great skincare to protect and enhance with an additional focus on hydration and travel.
THE POLISHER
This is a wonder product, that smells as divine as it works, bringing out luxurious silky skin perfect for the big reveal and moisturised for hours.
THE PROTECTOR
There is nothing like summer city heat, dust and pollution to wreck your skin. I don’t go into the West End anymore, unless I’ve spritzed this defence over my face first.
THE ILLUMINATOR
If there’s anytime to slay your mama glow, it’s summer. As a HUGE illuminator nut, for me a good glow stick is all you need for gorgeous dewy makeup, especially if like me you don’t like to wear too much in the heat. Illuminators also make you look like you’ve had a full night of sleep, no wake ups from the kids for teething or unnecessary cups of water. I’m a huge fan of Laura Mercier makeup at the moment (more to come on that soon) in the meantime….you’re welcome!

THE ‘EW’ FOOT ERASER
Nine months of hibernation can produce all sorts of horrors for sandal season, which is why it’s so important to look after your feet. This foot treatment is a great alternative to a pricey pedicure and does all the work while you sleep, softening the skin for the morning.
THE LIPPY ONE
Chapped lips are never fun, even more rotten in the summer, when the need for hydration is higher. As a fan of multi-tasking beauty products, this gloss balm will give you a gorgeous sweep of colour all the while moisturising your lips.
THE SUNNY ONE
I’m a big fan of M&S’ Sun smart sun creams. I use their kids’ versions and love the way they don’t leave a bluish white coating on my skin, but rather leave with a bit of a glow. Whether you’re sunning yourself on a beach lounger for your family holiday or trying to stop your toddler eating the sand in the garden, it’s important you keep your skin protected from harmful UV rays. You will be spending a lot of time outdoors.

THE LAZY GIRLS SPF
Want to spend your summer walking around with a ghostly palour? How about a sunburnt face because you forgot to top up your lotion? No. Then make sure you get a face cream with SPF inside. I love Kiehl’s products and this award winning Daily UV defense is moisturising, anti-ageing AND protecting – job done.
THE TREATMENT
Whatever your hair type, the heat and humidity of summer can take its toll on your hair. So, it’s important to keep it conditioned and topped up with moisture frequently. Easy trick is Argan Oil. Either mix it with water to spritz on your hair as a top up or do a deep condition and drench your hair is this miracle oil in a mum bun for an hour or a day under a head wrap.
THE EYE SPARKLER
Don’t be confused with your general state of mum exhaustion, there’s an added component to your dry and red eyes in the summer. Pollen and heat. So, get yourself some eye drops to make them sparkle again. With hayfever I use medicated eye drops and top up with a dry eyes spray to feel fresh throughout the day, which also moisturises the eye lids too, win win!
THE STIMULATOR
With more flesh on show, you may want to firm up any bubbly bits – ahem cellulite. While there are many creams which claim to do the job, I’m going old school with my recommendation of a brush or roller to stimulate your skin. It’s about improving your circulation, stimulating your lymph nodes, flushing out any toxins and improving the appearance of your skin.

THE HYDRATOR
It’s what’s on the inside that counts my friends and in summer time, more then any other time of the year, water is going to give you all the mama beauty slay you need. So, up your intake and drink it throughout the day. If that’s a struggling add some lemons, cucumber or mint leaves to give it flavour or try sparkling.
HAPPY SUMMER MAMAS!
